peterre> In hunter-gatherer societies (our ancestors for millions of years) frequent cleaning and tidying kept away bacteria, vermin, etc., and therefore there was selection pressure on those who stayed at home in the cave (the women) to become compulsive tidiers and cleaners
peterre> Those who did not keep things tidy were more likely to see their families become ill
